Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance at Summerdown

We are delighted to share that Summerdown School is formally committed to achieving the Investors in Careers Quality Mark, the nationally recognised standard for excellence in careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG).

The Investors in Careers Quality Mark is part of the national Quality in Careers Standard, endorsed by the Department for Education. It provides independent validation that a school has a comprehensive, well-structured careers program which meets the highest benchmarks for preparing young people for their futures.

By working towards this award, we are making a clear promise to our students and families:

• Ensuring every student receives impartial, up-to-date guidance about the full range of opportunities available after school.
• Building strong links with local businesses and colleges to give students real-world insights and experiences.
• Helping each student explore their strengths, interests, and aspirations, so they can make informed choices about their next steps.
• Helping every student to feel valued and know that they can make a positive contribution to their community or home through work, volunteering or doing jobs at home/school.
• Demonstrating to parents, carers, employers, and the wider community that our school meets the rigorous standards set out in the Gatsby Benchmarks and national guidance.

Achieving the Investors in Careers Quality Mark is not just about recognition; it is about embedding a culture where every child is supported to thrive in their future. This process involves external assessment, ongoing reflection, and continuous improvement, ensuring that our careers provision remains outstanding and responsive to the changing world.
